Hall of Fame
Garry Matlock joins the Hall for men’s basketball having played for the Crusaders from 1963 to 1966. Garry holds the career assists record at NNU with 524 and is also number one in single-season assists with 260 (1965-66), fifth all-time in career steals (206) and ninth in single-season steals with 77 (1965-66).
A two-sport athlete for the Crusaders, Garry played baseball in 1964 and 1966, posted a career .338 batting average, and was awarded the Orrin E. Hills Sports Trophy as a senior.
Garry returned to NNU in 1981, serving one year as an assistant to Terry Layton and then nine seasons (1982-91) as head coach for the Crusader basketball program. During his tenure he taught in the Department of Kinesiology and served two years as Athletic Director.
