Personal & Professional Achievements
Dr. Hagood entered the academic halls and sports fields at Northwest Nazarene College in the 1960s as a three-sport student athlete in baseball, track & field, and basketball. Basketball is where he really made a name for himself, though. On the court, Rich brought together his life-long understanding and appreciation for teamwork by being an unselfish player, and one who wanted everyone to shine. Dr. Hagood graduated in 1964 and went on to achieve many personal and professional successes. His career culminated in returning to NNU as Vice President of Advancement and then being selected as the 11th President, serving as such for 14 years until his retirement in 2006. Upon his retirement, Dr. Hagood was named President Emeritus. In those years, and since, he, with his wife Junella, has remained an avid supporter of NNU Athletics.
