A.J. “Tony” Bohner received his B.S. from Northwest Nazarene College in 1968 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the College of Law, Willamette University in Willamette, Oregon in 1971.  He served as a law clerk for 2 years to the Honorable Fred M. Taylor, U.S. District Judge for the District of Idaho.  In 1974, he became a full time Professor of Business Law at Boise State University.  He combined teaching and the practice of law until 1981, then devoted his time to his law practice as partner in the law firm Bohner, Chase & Walton.  In November 1999, he started Bohner Law Office, centering his practice around real estate, construction and business law.

A.J. “Tony” Bohner was instrumental in the formation of the Crusader Athletic Association in 1971, serving as President of the CAA since 1980.  The CAA has been a model for athletic booster organizations in other NAIA institutions.  He was instrumental in bringing the NAIA Basketball Tournaments to NNU and the Nampa/Caldwell area.  He has been honored an placed in the Cascade Conference Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987 for his outstanding volunteer contributions to the NNU Athletic Program.

His community involvement includes Optimist football coaching for 10 years, with honors from the league as Sportsman of the Year.  He served on the Athletic Advisory Board for the Boise School District.  He has been honored by Boise First Church of the Nazarene for his outstanding high school ministry and service to youth.
