MARYSVILLE, Calif. - Following one of the greatest pitching seasons in Northwest Nazarene baseball history, right-handed pitcher and infielder
Cole Calnon has signed a professional contract to play with the Yuba-Sutter High Wheelers of the Pioneer League.
The High Wheelers play their home games at Bryant Field in Marysville, California. They are a member of the
Pioneer Baseball League, which is an MLB Partner League with 12 teams across California, Montana, Idaho, Utah, and Colorado.
Yuba-Sutter has had a successful 2025 season so far, slotting third in the Pioneer League overall standings and off to a 6-3 start in the second half standings.
Calnon was undoubtedly among the best pitchers in all of Division II this past spring, earning All-American honors from all four outlets including a First Team nod from D2Baseball.com. D2Baseball also named him their National Two-Way Player of the Year, as he started at shortstop in every game he wasn't pitching. He was named a consensus First Team All-Region performer and the GNAC Pitcher of the Year. In Division II rankings, he finished the year first in the nation in complete games, fifth in victories, tenth in games started, and 15th in ERA. He was also dominant in the postseason, only allowing three runs in regional wins over Point Loma and Cal State Monterey Bay before tossing a complete game in NNU's 4-1 College World Series opening victory over UT Tyler.
Calnon is the ninth NNU alum to
sign professionally in the last eight years.
