Women's Soccer set for Two-Game Road Trip

NAMPA, Idaho - The NNU women's soccer team will hit the road for two road matches against Seattle Pacific with a 3 PM PT kickoff and Montana State Billings with a noon kickoff on Thursday and Saturday. 

The Nighthawks

The Nighthawks are entering this week after securing their first win of the season and a 1-5-2 overall record and 1-2-1 in GNAC play. NNU had a tough start to the season, falling to RV Dominican (Calif.) in their season opener and a 2-2 draw with Menlo College a few days later. They followed that up with four straight losses to CSU Dominguez Hills, Westminster (Utah), RV Western Washington, and Simon Faser before taking a 3-0 decision against Saint Martin's that saw three different Nighthawks find the back of the net and 0-0 draw to Western Oregon. 

Northwest Nazarene recorded their first shutouts of the season last week and scored a single-game high three goals. This season, they have scored seven goals and are averaging 0.88 goals per game. They have outshot opponents 101-93 with 12.6 shots per game with 40 shots being on target and a 39.6 shots on goal percentage. They have given up 14 goals, averaging 1.75 per game with with 93 shots and 11.6 shots per game. 47 out of the 93 shots have been on frame for a shots on goal percentage of 50.5.

Lucy Bergrod and Mylee Carver Moulton have carried the bulk of the offense, with each player recording two goals. Attie Jo Westbrook followed with one goal, one assist, and three points. Alexis Cromwell and Elliana Kimball have each scored one goal while Mackenzie Brown and Keira Dwinell have tallied an assist.

Alex Barrass has started every game in goal and recorded all 720 minutes. She has given up 14 goals and averages 1.75 goals against per game. Barrass has secured 30 saves for a save percentage of 68.2 and has two shutouts.

The Falcons

Seattle Pacific comes in with a 5-3 overall record and is 2-2 on GNAC play but is on a two-game slide after falling to RV Simon Faser 5-0 and Western Washington 3-0 last week. SPU started the year with a three-game win streak over RV Chico State, Jessup, and CSU East Bay before falling to Colorado Mesa at home 2-0. They followed that up with winning their first two conference games with 3-0 decisions against Saint Martin's and Western Oregon. They will host both NNU and Central Washington this Thursday and Saturday, respectfully. 

The Falcons have scored 15 goals this season with a 1.88 goals per game average while giving up 16 goals with a 2.00 goals against average. Seattle Pacific has taken 111 shots, averaging 13.9 shots per game with 53 shots on goal and a 47.7 shots on goal percentage. They have allowed 89 shots and are allowing 11.1 shots per game with 41 shots on goal for a 46.1 shots on goal percentage. 

Sophie Hanay leads the team with two goals, five assists, and nine points. Hanay's five assists are good for tied third in the conference and points are fourth in the GNAC. Andie Buckley follows with two goals and two assists while both Logann Dukes and Ashlyn Valdovinos each have three goals. Nora Patterson adds a goal and two assists while Maddie Cooke and Ava Suarez each have a goal to their name. Grace Coston leads with three assists while Jaylee Curran, Peyton Dukes, and Piper Paslay have one assist.

Landry Schoennauer has started every game in goal and ahs given up 15 goals with a 2.03 goals against average. Schoennauer has secured 20 saves with a 56.8 save percentage and two shutouts. Celia Ramos has two games played and has yet to start a game. Ramos has conceded one goal and is averaging 1.65 goals against per game with one save. 
All-time vs SPU
NNU trails in the all-time series 5-41-1. Last time out, the Falcons took a 1-0 decision in Seattle and the last NNU win came in 2022 as Savanna Herz scored in the fourth minute and Madison Grande scored in the 38th minute to take a 2-1 win on home turf. The rivalry dates all the way back to Sept. 5, 2001 where NNU took a 3-2 win in Nampa.

The Yellowjackets

MSUB enters with a 2-2-4 overall record and a 2-1-1 GNAC record. The Yellowjackets opened their season with back-to-back draw to Minnesota Crookston and Minnesosta State Moorehead before falling to to University of Mary (N.D.) 3-0. They finished out their nonconference scheduled with a 1-1 draw ot Black Hills State (S.D.) before opening GNAC play with a 1-1 draw with Western Oregon. They defeated Saint Martin's in the following game 2-1 but fell to Western Washington. MSUB's most recent game comes against RV Simon Fraser where they upset the Red Leafs 1-0. 

The Yellowjackets have scored six goals this season and are averaging 0.75 goals per game. They have given up 10 goals, 1.25 goals against per game. MSUB has been outshot 72-150 and are averaging nine shot per game but are giving up 18.8 shots per game. 59.7 percent of the Yellowjacket's shots have been on target this season with their opponents percentage at 42.7 percent. 

Abby Thompson leads MSUB with two goals, one assist, and five points while Emmersyn Burckley has two goals to her name. Kennedy Craig and Ava Gibbs have scored one goal each. Kelsie Cox, Jordyn Daigle, Vivian Gaither, Kolbi Kiblen, Cianna Sexton, and Peyton Tarabokija have one assist on the year. 

Tenley Leffler has eight starts in goal and has conceded 10 goals with 52 saves. Leffler is averaging 1.25 goals against per game. Leffler's 52 saves leads the conference and her 83.9 save percentage ranks second. 
All-time vs MSUB
NNU trails MSUB in the all-time rivalry 15-20-3 but won both matches last year. Ellie Ritter scored the lone goal in Billings while Alexis Cromwell scored two and Ritter added one in the home match a year ago.
