NAMPA, ID. - The Nighthawks have made it seven wins in a row after the sweep of the double header today as NNU won game one with a score of 12-4, following that with a 8-5 win in game two.Â
Game One: Win - (G. Lucas 1-0)Â
The Nighthawks got another decisive win in today's game one as they took a 12-4 victory over Colorado State Pueblo in game one of the double header in Nampa today.
Tyler Stolfich started on the hill for the Nighthawks, as he would go 2.1 Innings allowing four runs in, three of them being earned.Â
Grayden Lucas would come in to relieve Stolfich in the third inning with one out and runners on. Lucas would get two outs against the first two batters he faced and would pitch a clean fourth inning as well, earning him his first win of the season as he drops his ERA.Â
Landen Parker and
Gavin Brubaker would combine for three innings of work, only allowing one hit, one walk, and four strikeouts to finish the game for the Nighthawks bullpen as they work together well to keep the Thunderwolves at bay.Â
The NNU offense kept things rolling as they would go on to score 12 more runs in game one, all of them being earned.
Adrian Arechiga would go and get another home run in today's game, as he grew his lead on the team with his fifth of the young season.
Parker Sobiesiak would also join Arechiga as he would send one out as well giving him his third of the season.
Nighthawks offense has grown their home run totals all the way up to an impressive 22 home runs hit over the course of 21 games.Â
Elliot Brown would have an impressive game going 2-2 with an RBI in the second inning to get the scoring started for the Nighthawks in this one. Junior transfer
Henry Henkel would get his first start of the season, as he would go 1-2 with an impressive two RBIs, two runs scored and two walks.Â
Game Two: Win (C. Talley 3-0)Â
Game two was a closer matchup as CSPU made things interesting in the final inning.
Corbin Talley would throw an impressive game as Talley would throw 5.1 innings, only allowing 2 runs to come in, but both being unearned. Talley would strike out five and only walk one on his way to victory in tonight's game two.Â
Kaleb Karpstein would get things started in this one as with two outs in the first inning, he would send a ball the opposite way for a solo shot. This would get things started for the nighthawks as they would play very good baseball, as they would move players station to station on their way to eight runs.Â
Liam Herrera would lead the way in game two as he would go 2-3 driving in two runs while scoring two of his own.
Carter Walsh had an impressive game two as he would go 2-4 with four RBIs himself and would come around to score one. These two bats would lead the way as the Nighthawks would go into the final inning with a 8-2 lead.Â
However Colorado State Pueblo wouldn't leave this one quietly.
Wade Duncan came into pitch in the top of the sixth inning, doing well, but trouble would follow as Duncan would give up his first runs of the season, as the Thunderwolves would get three runs off of four hits in the top of the seventh and the Nighthawks would have to go to the pen once again as Duncan could only get two outs in the seventh.Â
Tyson Rutherford would come in to finish the game off to get a nice and easy save, going 0.1 innings and getting a ground ball on the first batter he faced as he went on to get the save.Â
Nighthawks move to a 14-7 record on the year with the series win now in hand against CSPU. The Nighthawks will face off against the Thunderwolves one more time tomorrow in a nine inning matchup here in Nampa with first pitch scheduled to be at noon local time.Â
