NAMPA, Idaho - The NNU women's soccer team will host No. 9 Western Washington on Thursday at 4 PM before hitting the road to take on Central Washington at 11 AM PT on Saturday.
The Nighthawks
The Nighthawks enter the week with a 2-5-3 overall record and a 2-2-2 mark in GNAC play. NNU is coming off an unbeaten road trip after earning a 1-1 draw against Seattle Pacific and a 1-0 win over Montana State Billings. The Nighthawks have now gone unbeaten in four of their last five matches, picking up wins over Saint Martin's and MSUB along with draws against Western Oregon and Seattle Pacific.
Northwest Nazarene has scored nine goals this season and is averaging 0.90 goals per game while allowing 15 goals for a 1.50 goals against average. NNU has outshot opponents 134-113 and is averaging 13.4 shots per game while allowing 11.3. The Nighthawks have put 56 shots on goal for a 41.8 shots on goal percentage while opponents have put 57 of their 113 attempts on frame.
Attie Jo Westbrook leads the Nighthawks with two goals, one assist, and five points. Lucy Bergford and Mylee Carver Moulton have each scored two goals while Elliana Kimball has recorded one goal and one assist. Alexis Cromwell and Jadalynn Ramos have each added a goal. Westbrook scored the game-winner in NNU's 1-0 victory over Montana State Billings last time out.
Alex Barrass has started all 10 matches in goal and played all 900 minutes. Barrass has allowed 15 goals for a 1.50 goals against average while securing 38 saves for a 71.7 save percentage. She has recorded three shutouts this season, including two over the last three matches. Barrass' efforts earned her GNAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Vikings
Western Washington enters the week with a 7-1-3 overall record and sits atop the GNAC standings with a 5-0-1 conference record. The Vikings are riding a nine-match unbeaten streak and have won four straight, including victories over Montana State Billings, Seattle Pacific, Western Oregon, and Saint Martin's. Their lone loss of the season came against UC Colorado Springs on Aug. 30.
The Vikings have scored 17 goals this season and are averaging 1.55 goals per game while allowing just four goals for a 0.36 goals against average. Western Washington has outshot opponents 175-65 and averages 15.9 shots per game while allowing just 5.9. The Vikings have put 76 shots on goal for a 43.4 shots on goal percentage while opponents have recorded 27 shots on frame. WWU has recorded seven team shutouts through 11 matches.
Madeline Mays leads the Vikings with five goals, one assist, and 11 points despite appearing in nine matches. Reese Walker follows with three goals, one assist, and seven points while Audrey Holdridge and Triya Mitchell have each recorded two goals and two assists. Chloe Van Wey has added two goals and one assist while Mie Cairns leads the team with three assists.
Ellie McGowan has started all 11 matches in goal and played all 990 minutes. McGowan has allowed just four goals for a 0.36 goals against average while recording 22 saves and an 84.6 save percentage. She has five individual shutouts while helping Western Washington record seven shutouts as a team.
All-time vs WWU
NNU trails Western Washington 2-43-3 in the all-time series. The Vikings took a 1-0 decision in Bellingham earlier this season after scoring the lone goal of the match in the second half. NNU's last victory over Western Washington came on Oct. 28, 2021, when the Nighthawks earned a 2-1 win in Nampa. The series dates back to Sept. 8, 2001.
The Wildcats
Central Washington enters the week with a 2-6-3 overall record and a 2-3-1 mark in GNAC play. The Wildcats opened the season 0-5-3 before picking up back-to-back conference wins over Saint Martin's and Montana State Billings. CWU most recently fell 3-1 on the road against Seattle Pacific and will host Simon Fraser on Thursday before welcoming NNU to Ellensburg on Saturday.
Central Washington has scored nine goals this season and is averaging 0.82 goals per game while allowing 19 goals for a 1.73 goals against average. The Wildcats have taken 120 shots and are averaging 10.9 shots per game. Through their first 10 matches, CWU had put 55 of 109 shots on goal while opponents had recorded 63 shots on goal on 121 attempts.
Shannah Mellick and Jaylee Reynolds have each scored two goals for the Wildcats. Kylee Schreck has recorded two goals and one assist, including CWU's lone goal against Seattle Pacific last time out. Marisa Badillo and Mary-Jo Landon have also found the back of the net this season.
Central Washington has used multiple goalkeepers this season. Danika Galbraith and Leighton Menge have both made starts for the Wildcats, with Galbraith recording two shutouts through her first three starts.
All-time vs CWU
NNU trails Central Washington 18-27-2 in the all-time series but holds a 7-2-1 record over the last 10 meetings. The Wildcats took a 1-0 decision in Ellensburg in the most recent meeting on Nov. 6, 2025 after the two teams played to a 2-2 draw in Nampa earlier that season. NNU swept the 2024 season series with a pair of 1-0 victories, including a win in Ellensburg. The series dates back to Sept. 10, 2001.
