BILLINGS, Mont. – The Northwest Nazarene women's soccer team picked up a road victory Saturday afternoon, defeating Montana State Billings 1-0 at MSUB.
The Nighthawks got on the board in the first half when Elliana Kimball found Attie Jo Westbrook, who headed the ball into the back of the net to give NNU a 1-0 lead. The goal sent the Nighthawks into halftime ahead. NNU held a 6-5 advantage in shots during the opening 45 minutes, while both teams recorded three shots on goal.
The Nighthawks continued to pressure the Yellowjackets in the second half, finishing the match with a 15-6 advantage in shots and 7-3 in shots on goal. NNU also earned four corner kicks compared to one for MSUB.
The Nighthawk defense held strong throughout the second half to preserve the shutout and secure the 1-0 road win.
With the win, NNU improves to 2-5-3 overall and 2-2-2 in GNAC play, moving into fourth place in the conference standings with eight points. Montana State Billings falls to 2-4-4 overall and 2-3-1 in conference play this season.
NNU will return home Thursday, Oct. 8, and will be hosting Western Washington at NNU Soccer Field at 4 p.m.
