NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene baseball dropped game one by a score of 7-2. They trailed for most of game two but rallied for a walk-off in the bottom of the 7
th inning to secure a 6-5 win.
The Nighthawks are now 14-16 overall and 8-4 in GNAC play.
Game 1
The Wildcats scored one run in the top of the 4
th inning to take the first lead of the game. They added five runs in the top of the 8
th inning, only one of which was earned.
CWU held the Nighthawks to no runs until the bottom of the 8
th inning. NNU was down 6-0 when
Matthew Reynolds came up to bat. Reynolds put NNU on the board with a solo shot that left the yard. Later that same inning,
Mason Leavitt brought
Tyler Best in to score on an RBI single.
The Wildcats put up one final run in the top of the 9
th inning and held on to win 7-2.
Game 2
Mason Leavitt led off game two with a base hit.
Drew Deal was hit by a pitch. With runners on first and second,
Shane Jamison singled into left field for an RBI that scored Leavitt. Later in the 1
st inning,
Kailer Saunders hit a sac fly that scored Deal.
Central Washington put up two runs in the top of the 2
nd inning to tie the game and then added three in the top of the 3
rd to take a 5-2 lead.
In the bottom of the 5
th inning,
Adam Paganelli hit an RBI single to help close the deficit, and Saunders followed up with an RBI single of his own to bring the score to 5-4. Trailing by one,
Colby Moran entered the game for his first at bat and hit a sac fly to left field that scored the tying run of the game.
The score remained 5-5 until Moran's next at bat in the bottom of the 7
th inning. With runners on first and second,
Colby Moran hit an RBI single that got out to left field.
Adam Paganelli scored from second base for the Nighthawks walk-off win.
