Northwest Nazarene men's basketball head coach
Paul Rush and his staff have announced the addition of
Cameron Holliway to the Nighthawks program heading into the 2022-23 year.
Holliway is a 6'5" small forward from Snoqualmie, Washington. He played for Mount Si High School and Team Lavine for AAU ball.
"Cam is such a great fit in our basketball program and on our campus," said Rush. "His energy and approach is special and it reminds me a lot of some of our past incoming freshmen who have developed into high level players for us. Cam spent his high school years with Coach Griffith at Mount Si High School, which reached the state championship twice in the last few years with one state title. His experience playing with Elite Prep in the Adidas Gauntlet has prepared him for the size and length of the college program."
Holliway helped Mount Si to the State Championship in 2020 before taking second place as a senior a year ago. On that state runner-up squad, Holliway averaged eight points per game, six rebounds per game, and two assists per game.
"It feels like a family and everyone pushes each other to be better,"Â said Holliway on what helped him make his choice to play for the Nighthawks.
"We are extremely excited about our freshman class that Cam is a part of," added Rush. "It is one of the deepest and strongest we have had since we brought in guys likeÂ
Gabriel Murphy,Â
Jaylen Fox,Â
George Reidy, Cayden Wright andÂ
James Nelson together in 2018-19."
Holliway is one of five freshmen and two transfers that are joining the program this year, including
Nathan Perez,Â
Easton Reagan,Â
Aaron Murphy, and
Rayzhon Bergersen. The rest of the class will be released on nnusports.com in the coming days.
