Northwest Nazarene men's basketball head coach
Paul Rush and his staff have announced the signing of
Nathan Perez to the Nighthawks program heading into the 2022-23 year.
Perez is a 6'4" guard from Valencia, California. He attended and played for Saugus High School.
"Nathan brings a college ready jump shot that was one of the best we found on the recruiting trail," said Rush. "His high school program at Saugus helped prepare him for the types of reads and shots he will need to take at the college level to be successful. It was clear after multiple visits that Nathan and his family were a natural part of the NNU campus and would be a great part of our faith community."
Perez averaged 28.9 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, 2 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game as he starred for Saugus during his senior season. He was named to the All-Foothill League Second Team.
"I felt welcomed with both the coaches and teammates," said Perez on what helped him make his choice to play for the Nighthawks.
"We are extremely excited about our freshman class that Nathan is a part of," added Rush. "It is one of the deepest and strongest we have had since we brought in guys like
Gabriel Murphy,
Jaylen Fox,
George Reidy, Cayden Wright and
James Nelson together in 2018-19."
Perez is one of five freshmen and two transfers that are joining the program. The rest of the class will be released one-by-one on nnusports.com in the coming days.
