Nighthawks Drop Two to Sea Lions

SAN DIEGO – Northwest Nazarene baseball had a rough day against their Nazarene rivals on Friday, falling in both games of the doubleheader to Point Loma 13-2 and 2-0.

The Nighthawks fall to 2-5 on the season, and 0-3 in the current series against the Sea Lions.

Game 1

PLNU got on the board first with a solo homer in the bottom of the first, but NNU came back with two runs in the second to take the lead. Rumble Reyes drove in the first run on an RBI groundout, followed by a Colton Moore solo home run.

That was all the Nighthawk offense would get, though, as NNU only managed to put two more runners in scoring position the rest of the game. The Sea Lions got to NNU's pitching, scoring at least one run in each inning from the fourth to the eighth to take the 13-2 victory.

Game 2

The Nighthawks only managed two hits in the nightcap, with Tyler Best leading off the game with a single and Parker Price singling in the top of the seventh.

Point Loma got their runs in the first and third innings off NNU starter Haden Keller, who went 3.2 innings and allowed five hits. Joseph Ihli tossed the final 2.1 innings, striking out two while not allowing a run or hit.

Next Up

The Nighthawks will look to salvage the final game of the series tomorrow against the Sea Lions, with first pitch set for 11:00 a.m. Pacific.
