Doug English have announced the hiring of Kaelyn Saler as the next assistant coach of the Nighthawk volleyball program.
"I am excited to have Kaelyn join our staff at NNU. She has a servant's heart, and is great relationally, which are foundations to being able to impact our athlete's lives. On the court, her playing and coaching experience will add an expert voice in areas I am not as strong at and enable our athletes to keep developing and growing while they are here. Kaelyn has the potential to make a huge impact on NNU Volleyball during her time as a part of our staff, I am grateful she said yes to NNU." Â

Saler joins the Nighthawks after graduating from University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. Prior to UOP, Saler started her collegiate career at Bucknell University (Penn.) before transferring to the Division I program in California's Central Valley.Â
Saler spent time as a middle blocker for the Tigers appearing in 12 matches as junior in 2021 with four starts. She started a career-high 25 matches in 2019 and had a career kill efficiency of .120. In 2021. Saler tallied 26Â blocks, a career high, and averaged 0.72 blocks per set.Â
A native of Brentwood, California, Saler prepped at Heritage High School. There she was a two-time First Team All-Bay Valley Athletic League selection and a 2017 BVAL MVP. Her 2017 campaign helped lead the Patriots to a top-three finish. She won league titles in 2014 and 2017 totaling 562 kills, 186 blocks, and 138 aces in her prep career.
Since graduating from UOP, Saler coached at the club and high school level across Northern California.
She joins Doug English who has been the head coach of the NNU volleyball program since 2013.
