NAMPA, Idaho - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced
Laurenz Waldbauer as the West Region Field Athlete of the Year.
Waldbauer earns the honor after being named the top GNAC field athlete for the 2026 outdoor season.Â
Waldbauer was outright dominant this season winning the national championship with a throw of 73.53m.Â
Waldbauer caps off his impressive career as Nighthawk with this regional honor that already included a 2022 and 2024 USTFCCCA All-Region selection, 2023 CSC Academic All-District Second Team, a 2025 national runner up perfromance, and a 2026 national championship.
