SPOKANE, Wash. – Brody Kemble and Gerohm Rihari both grabbed second-place finishes Tuesday, while Luke Stockett broke a long-standing school record at the 2026 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at The Podium in Spokane.
The trio helped lead the Nighthawks to a fifth-place finish in the team standings, with 62 points. Western Washington won the team title with 191 points.
Kemble followed up his title in the 5,000 meters Monday with a second-place finish in the 3,000 on Tuesday in 8 minutes, 28.69 seconds. It is the second consecutive season Kemble has finished runner-up in the event.
On Tuesday, he led for most of the race before falling to fourth heading into the final lap. He surged forward, but was unable to catch Alaska Anchorage's Charlie Hulbert, who won in 8:27.81.
Kemble set the school record in the event earlier this season, breaking Tyler Shea's 2022 record of 8:28.81. Grady Mylander and Ian Stockett also surpassed Shea's mark this season.
Rihari took second in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 8.25 inches, which tied him with Central Washington's Cal'von Baker, who took the conference title based on attempts.
Rihari won the GNAC indoor title in the event in 2023 and was second in 2025. He won the 2025 GNAC outdoor titles in the high jump and long jump, qualifying for the outdoor national championships in 2025.
Teammates Jonah Groce and Alex Shields tied for seventh in the event, clearing 6-1.5.
Luke Stockett finished fifth in the 800 meters in a time of 1:53.88, following up his blistering preliminary time of 1:52.81 on Monday – which shattered a 49-year school record set by David Titterington in 1977 (1:52.94).
Ian Stockett was fourth in the mile, finishing in a time of 4:17.28, Giovanni Carlino was sixth in the 200 in 21.91 seconds, Bryson Paul was seventh in the 400 in 48.95 seconds, Luke Johannson was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.66 seconds and Carter Alberts was eighth in the shot put with a throw of 48-4.5.
The team of Johannson, Jonah Rau, Jaden Booker and Bryson Paul took fifth in the mile relay in a time of 3:22.94.
The national championships are scheduled for March 13-14 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Qualifiers for that meet will be announced on March 3.
