GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Northwest Nazarene women's soccer battled with a tough Colorado Mesa side on Thursday night, but fell to the 15
th-ranked Mavericks 2-0.
CMU got on the board early with a goal in the ninth minute. Neither team would score for over 60 minutes after that, before the Mavericks converted a penalty in the 72
nd for the two-goal lead.
NNU had eight shots in the game, but only two were put on frame, coming from
Savanna Herz and
Abbey Blancett.
Alex Barrass tallied four saves in goal for the Nighthawks.
NNU will stay in Grand Junction for a couple more days, playing Western Colorado in a neutral-site contest on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
