Baseball Rises to No. 15 in NCBWA National Poll

WINGATE, N.C. - One of the hottest teams in all of Division II baseball with 12-straight victories, Northwest Nazarene has risen nine spots to No. 15 in the latest NCBWA National Poll.

The Nighthawks entered the poll at No. 24 back on March 19th and have bounced between 23rd and 24th in the few weeks since before jumping up the the 15th slot this week. 

This ranking of No. 15 is the highest that NNU baseball has achieved since tying for 13th in the 2021-22 NCBWA Preseason Poll. 

Tampa earned 18 of the 20 first-place votes to keep a strong hold of the top spot in the poll, followed by Central Missouri, Angelo State, Westmont, and North Greenville to round out the top five. Along with Westmont, other West Region representatives in the poll are No. 19 Point Loma and Cal State Monterey Bay (receiving votes).

NNU is currently 27-10 overall and 16-3 in GNAC play. The Nighthawks have been on a tear through GNAC competition, earning three straight sweeps over Central Washington, Saint Martin's, and Western Oregon along with a victory to close out the series against Montana State Billings that started the run. Over those 12 games, the Nighthawks are outscoring their opponents 107-23 (average score of 9 to 2).

Among the other national college baseball outlets, the Nighthawks are also 23rd in the Perfect Game rankings and receiving votes in both the ABCA poll and the D2Baseball rankings.
