AUSTIN, Texas - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024 Men's Track & Field Academic All-America Teams on Wednesday morning, with Northwest Nazarene's
Laurenz Waldbauer earning the prestigious recognition.
Waldbauer is the third athlete in NNU men's track & field history to be named an Academic All-American, joining Brice Roncace in 2002 and Isaac Mitchell in 2016. The junior is also the 14th student-athlete in NNU's DII history to earn the honor.
The Global Business major earned Second Team honors as one of just 14 Division II athletes recognized with a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA throughout his collegiate career. He is one of two GNAC representatives to earn the honor, joining Alaska Anchorage's Cole Nash.
In addition to his academic prowess, Waldbauer excelled in the javelin this season with the sixth-best mark in Division II of 70.71 meters. He finished as the GNAC Runner-Up in the javelin and qualified for Outdoor Nationals in the event for the second time in his career.
