The Nighthawks and Seawolves Battle it Out in Five Set Match

NAMPA, Idaho – Nighthawks Volleyball played in an exciting game this afternoon as they took on Alaska Anchorage University. In a blank set game it was the blank who came out on top, winning the game 0-0.

As the Nighthawks took the court in the first set they overpowered the Seawolves offensively recording 14 kills with a hitting percentage of .387. Taking the set 25-17 the Nighthawks seemed on their way to take the overall victory. However, coming out in the second Alaska Anchorage took back the momentum and battled their way to a win, 25-17.

In the third set of the game both teams came out with a competitive energy looking to get the edge in set wins. In an offensive dual the Nighthawks recorded 18 kills to the Seawolves 13. In the last leg of the game the Nighthawks pulled out the win, 25-23. The fourth set had a slower start as the Sea Wolves had confusion with their line up. However, they were able to overcome the early hiccup and take the set 25-12.

In the final set of the game it was a back and forth battle with the teams putting forth similar performances. At the halfway mark they were tied in kills and hitting percentage. However, as the second leg got underway the Seawolves took the victory, 16-14.

Abby Black led the Nighthawks offensively with 18 kills. Gabi Moore contributed 46 assists and led defensively with 24 digs.

NNU will make the trip to Canada next week to face off against Simon Fraser on the 14th. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. pacific time.
