ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Northwest Nazarene women's soccer opened GNAC play on a high note on Thursday, scoring a goal in each half to defeat Central Washington 2-0.

The Nighthawks improve to 3-0-2 on the season with their conference-opening victory.

NNU's first tally came in the 31
st minute, when
Savanna Herz received a pass down the right side and sent a great ball to the middle for
Nicole Lewis, who took a touch and drilled it past the CWU keeper's left side.

Lewis was also involved in the second goal of the day that came in the 65
th minute.
Madison Grande took a free kick from about 35 yards out and sent the ball to a racing Lewis in the middle of the box, who tapped it back for
Makayla Roggow to fire into the back of the net.

As a freshman, Lewis is now leading the Nighthawks in both goals (two) and points (six), and is tied for the lead with two assists. Roggow's score was the seventh goal of her career and first this season.

NNU held the upper hand offensively, recording 15 shots with seven going on goal while the Wildcats managed seven attempts with four on target.

Bailey Blancett played all 90 minutes with four saves for the shutout, her fourth in five games this year.

The Nighthawks will now travel to Western Oregon on Saturday with an 11:00 a.m. Pacific start. The Wolves are ranked 13
th in the national poll, coming into the game with a 4-0-1 record.
