BILLINGS, Mont. - After a stellar season out of the bullpen for Northwest Nazarene baseball, right-handed pitcher
Ty Pohlmann has signed a professional contract to play with the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League.
The Mustangs play their home games at Dehler Park in Billings, Montana, the same field that the Nighthawks play on when they visit Montana State Billings. They are a member of the
Pioneer Baseball League, which is an MLB Partner League with 10 teams across Montana, Idaho, Utah, and Colorado.
The 2023 season kicked off just a few days ago on Tuesday, May 25 with Billings hosting the Missoula Paddleheads. Last year in 2022, Billings went 53-41 to finish second in the North Division of the Pioneer League.
In his one season in a Nighthawks uniform after transferring from UNLV, Pohlmann recorded a 3-1 record with a 1.27 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 35.1 innings. Across 17 appearances, Pohlmann struck out 59 batters and walked just 20 while giving up just 18 hits. Opponents hit just .146 off Pohlmann, including only three extra-base hits all year. He was named the GNAC Co-Pitcher of the Year for his efforts, as well as receiving a First Team All-Region nod from the NCBWA.
