PORTLAND, Ore. - The GNAC announced the 2023 Volleyball All-Conference Teams on Tuesday afternoon, with Northwest Nazarene's
Caroline McMahon earning First Team honors.
McMahon is the lone Nighthawks representative on the teams, receiving the first All-GNAC honor of her career.
Seattle Pacific's Hannah Hair was named both the Player of the Year and the Defensive Player of the Year, while SPU head coach Jason Rhine earned Coach of the Year honors. Saint Martin's Sirena Peredo received Freshman of the Year and Alaska Fairbanks' Lily Stewart was named Newcomer of the Year.
In her fifth and final season in a Nighthawks' uniform, McMahon was among the best liberos/defensive specialists in the conference and in the region. She led the Nighthawks and ranked second in the GNAC with 479 total digs and third in the GNAC with 4.65 digs per set. She was also second on the team with 35 aces on the season, and of players with at least five receptions this season, she led the Nighthawks with a .965 reception percentage.
Playing in all 103 sets for NNU this year, McMahon had 11 matches this season with 20 or more digs and four with 30 or more, including a season-best 38 at Western Oregon on Oct. 28. She was in double digits in digs in 25 of the 26 matches, and also registered an ace in 18 of 26 matches.
McMahon capped her incredible career atop multiple NNU Division II career categories and among the leaders in GNAC history. She finishes first all-time at NNU in digs with 1,976, a mark that is also seventh in GNAC history. She is also first in NNU's DII history in aces with 146 and sets played with 464, marks that are both fifth in NNU's overall program history. The aces total is also ninth all-time in the history of the GNAC.
