SPU Gives NNU First Conference Loss

NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene volleyball suffered just their second loss of the season and first in GNAC play on Thursday with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Seattle Pacific.

How It Happened

The Nighthawks trailed 19-15 in the opening set, but rallied back with a 10-1 run that included nine in a row to take the set 25-20.

The momentum did not carry over to set two, however, as the Falcons jumped out to an earn 5-1 lead and never looked back, taking the frame 25-14.

Set three was close throughout, with NNU trailing by just one, 20-19 late in the frame. SPU then went on a run, though, scoring five-straight points to win the set and go up 2-1.

NNU came out strong in the fourth set, going up 6-1 after an ace from Maren Dent. SPU quickly responded with six points of their own to take the lead, though. The set went back and forth, with NNU going up 20-16 late. SPU took over from there, scoring nine of the final 12 points to take the set and the match.
