Keller's No-Hitter Highlights NNU Sweep of CWU

NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene baseball didn't allow an earned run on Saturday, highlighted by Haden Keller's no-hitter in game two as the Nighthawks took two from Central Washington 2-0 and 3-1.

With the four-game sweep of the Wildcats, NNU improves to 23-13 on the year and 15-5 in GNAC play. CWU falls to 11-26 and 5-15 in conference action.

Game One

Neither team was able to score until the fifth inning of game one, before the Nighthawks finally got on the board with a Parker Price sacrifice fly to drive in Tyler Best. NNU added another in the sixth when Duke Pahukoa drove in Grant Kerry with an RBI single.

That was all the Nighthawks would need, as the trio of Kyle Ethridge, Shane Martin, and Max Holtzclaw combined to allow just four hits and shut out CWU.

Martin was the star, entering in the third and tossing six scoreless frames, allowing just one hit while striking out seven. Holtzclaw pitched the ninth, getting one strikeout on his way to his 10th save of the season.

Pahukoa finished with two of NNU's four hits at the plate.

Game Two

Game two belonged to Haden Keller, as the right-hander threw the second no-hitter in NNU's Division II history. Keller walked three and hit two batters, with one unearned run scoring after an error, but did not allow a hit and struck out 10 on his way to the record books.

Keller also drove in a run offensively on a fielder's choice, getting NNU's third RBI in the fifth inning just moments after Price notched a two-RBI single for the Nighthawks' first runs of the game.

Five different Nighthawks recorded a hit in the win.

Next Up

The Nighthawks will head out on the road again next week, visiting Saint Martin's for four games on April 15 and 16.
