SAN DIEGO – Northwest Nazarene baseball couldn't get much going on offense in the series opener, falling to Point Loma 6-0.
How It Happened
- The game began as a pitchers' duel, with neither team managing a hit off of NNU starter Kyle Ethridge or PLNU starter Baxter Halligan through the first four innings.
- The Nighthawks registered the first hit of the game in the top of the fifth on a one-out single from Haden Keller, but he was stranded at first.
- The Sea Lions would finally get to Ethridge in the bottom of the fifth, loading the bases with one out on a walk and two singles before Otto Kemp hit a grand slam to put the home team up 4-0.
- NNU failed to score over the rest of the game, and PLNU added two more solo homers to take the 6-0 win.
Nighthawks Notes
- NNU falls to 3-2 on the young season after splitting with Azusa Pacific last weekend.
