Nighthawks Fall to Yotes in Round Two of Mayors' Cup

CALDWELL, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene men's basketball came up short in round two of the Mayors' Cup on Tuesday night, falling to College of Idaho 60-47 in the road exhibition game.

The Nighthawks remain at 3-5 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.

How It Happened

The game was a defensive battle throughout, with both offenses struggling at the beginning as it took until the 10:14 mark for the first team to reach double digits as C of I took a 10-7 advantage.

The Yotes led by as much as nine in the first half, but the Nighthawks would cut it to six in the final seconds as Yaru Harvey hit a free throw and Tru Allen beat the buzzer with a layup that made it 26-20.

NNU immediately cut the deficit to three out of halftime as Harvey nailed a triple, but a 15-6 run by C of I over the next six minutes put the home team on top by 12, 41-32, with 12:03 to play.

The Yote lead would stay around ten for the remainder of the contest, eventually taking the 13-point win over the Nighthawks.
