Bergersen's Big Night Leads NNU over George Fox

NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene men's basketball took care of business on Saturday night with a 73-58 victory over non-conference opponent George Fox.

The Nighthawks move to 4-5 on the season while remaining 1-1 in GNAC play.

How It Happened

NNU jumped out early, taking a 13-point lead after eight minutes when Ryzin Bergersen hit a triple that made it 19-6.

The Nighthawks would lead by as much as 15 in the opening half, eventually taking a 13-point advantage into the break after Bergersen blew past a defender for a layup in the final minute.

The Bruins would not go away, though, cutting the NNU lead to single digits at 48-40 after five minutes of the second half. The Nighthawks would immediately respond, however, hitting back-to-back-to-back triples with one from Mason Machado and two from Bergersen to build the lead to 17, 57-40, with 13:14 to play.

George Fox kept fighting, cutting the deficit back down to eight once more with 9:22 remaining, but the Nighthawks proved to be too strong for the Bruins and earned the 15-point win.
