Keller Continuing Baseball Career Overseas in Australia

| By:
PERTH, Australia - Northwest Nazarene baseball alum Haden Keller '22 has been continuing his baseball career overseas after graduating last spring, joining the South Perth Souths of the Western Australia State League.

Keller was a standout two-way player for the Nighthawks during his career, earning Honorable Mention All-GNAC honors in 2021 as a key piece of NNU's run to the DII College World Series before receiving First Team All-GNAC honors and Second Team All-Region honors last year for a team that reaching the West Regional semifinals.

The Souths play other teams throughout the Perth Metropolitan Area and are 4-7 on the year as of Dec. 8. Just as he was for the Nighthawks, Keller has been pitching and playing the field for the Souths. At the plate, he is hitting .286 with a .413 on-base percentage, recording seven walks and five RBIs. On the mound, he has made five appearances, holding a 3.12 ERA in 23 innings with 31 strikeouts.

From Keller: "Things are going alright at the club, we've had a rough past few weeks in terms of record but we're staying positive. Overall the experience has been good, all people involved with the club have been really nice and are always checking in to make sure I'm doing well. All the guys get along well and I've enjoyed working with the younger kids in the lower grades when given the opportunity."

The team has 19 games left in the season that spans from late September to early March, with Australia being in the summer months now due to being in the Southern Hemisphere.
