Wright Leads Three Nighthawks on All-GNAC Volleyball Teams

| By:
PORTLAND, Ore. - The GNAC announced the 2022 Volleyball All-Conference Teams on Tuesday afternoon, with Northwest Nazarene placing three athletes on the two squads.

Olivia Wright and Natalie Sullivan both earned First Team honors, with Wright also named the Newcomer of the Year. Mckenzie Lee was also named to the Honorable Mention team. The three honors are the most for an NNU volleyball team since the 2017 season when they also had three athletes selected.

In her first and only season with the Nighthawks, Wright earns the Newcomer of the Year honor after she finished second in the conference with 4.04 points per set and third with 3.42 kills per set. The middle hitter had double-digit kills in all but five of her 25 matches, led by an NNU rally-scoring record 32-kill performance against Texas A&M-International on Aug. 26. She was also sixth in the GNAC with 1.12 blocks per set and eighth with a .344 hitting percentage.

Sullivan earns First Team honors for the second-straight season at her outside hitter position. She finished second in the GNAC statistics with 3.49 kills per set and was third with four points per set. She is also 14 with 2.91 digs per set and tied for 14th with 31 aces. She recorded double-digit kills in 21 of 26 matches, and notched a double-double with at least 10 kills and 10 digs in half (13) of NNU's games.

Lee receives her first All-GNAC honor in her final season with the Nighthawks. The setter finished atop the GNAC with 10.48 assists per set, along with ranking fifth on the team in digs.

The Nighthawks had a great turnaround season in 2022, earning nine more wins than last season (7 in 2021, 16 in 2022) and five more in conference play with a 16-10 overall record and 9-9 GNAC mark.
