How It Happened
The Nighthawks got on the board early and often, scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes of the match.
Madison Grande got the party started, curling in a beautiful free kick from just outside the box in the 10
th minute. Just three minutes later,
Ashley Parton took the ball down the left side and simply outran a defender to the near goalpost, where she flicked in a shot past the keeper to make it 2-0.
The third goal in a span of nine minutes came in the 19
th, when
Savanna Herz found
Alejandra Jaramillo free at the top of the box for a shot that sailed right past the keeper's dive and into the near side of the net.
Jaramillo was involved again on the fourth goal, sending a cross into the box in the 53
rd minute that was misplayed and completely missed by a defender. The ball fell to the feet of Parton for an easy score, her second of the match.
The final tally came in the 61
st, when
Sierra Sanchez beat her defender to her right on a breakaway and lasered a shot across goal past the keeper's right side that just snuck inside the far post.
