Nighthawks Nearly Pull Off Upset at Simon Fraser

BURNABY, B.C. – Northwest Nazarene volleyball came very close to knocking off Simon Fraser on the road on Saturday, taking the Canadian team to five sets, but falling 3-2.

How It Happened
  • NNU dropped the first two sets, falling in set one 25-19 before coming up just a bit short in a tough 28-26 set two loss.
  • The Nighthawks rebounded to take sets three and four, though, winning both by scores of 25-21.
  • The set three win was helped by a 10-1 run midway through the set, taking it from an 8-8 tie to an 18-9 advantage for NNU.
  • Set four was close throughout, until with the score tied at 21 each the Nighthawks rattled off four straight points to grab the win.
  • Set five was all Simon Fraser, however, as the home team took the first six points and went on to claim the deciding frame 15-8.
Nighthawks Notes

  • Sullivan and Anderson both finished with double-doubles, adding 17 digs apiece, also a career-best for Sullivan.
  • Megan MacKinney led the team with a career-high 20 digs. Caroline McMahon also had double-digit digs with 13.
