NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene volleyball got back on track on Thursday night, defeating Saint Martin's 3-1 to snap a three-game skid and pick up their first GNAC victory.
How It Happened
- Saint Martin's came out strong in set one, jumping out to an early lead they would never relinquish as the Saints took a 25-14 victory.
- Set two was nearly the exact opposite, with NNU going up 11-4 right away and building the lead to 21-9. The Nighthawks took the set 25-14, hitting .342 in the process.
- Set three was of another different variety than the first two, as it went back and forth numerous times with 15 ties and 10 lead changes. Neither team led by more than two points throughout the set.
- NNU had their sights set on a win with a 24-22 advantage, but SMU rallied to go up 25-24. The Nighthawks bounced back, scoring three-straight points of their own to take the set 27-25 and go up 2-1.
- Set four seemed to be going similar to set one at the beginning, with Saint Martin's taking a 12-5 lead. The Nighthawks clawed back, though, tying things up at 15 and taking a 19-15 lead after nine unanswered points.
- SMU didn't go away quietly, but NNU was able to hold on for a 25-22 set win to take the match.
Nighthawks Notes
- NNU had their highest attack percentage since the win over Westminster, hitting .239 as a team.
- Natalie Sullivan led the Nighthawks with 23 kills, marking her fourth 20+ kill effort of the season. She also hit .378, a season high.
- Anna Gable was also in double figures in kills, putting down 10 to go with two blocks.
- Mckenzie Lee set a new career-high with 50 assists and added two aces and 12 digs.
- Caroline McMahon led the team with 19 digs, followed closely by Molly Anderson with 17.
