NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene volleyball made it a 2-0 week with a 3-0 sweep of Western Oregon on Saturday.
How It Happened
- NNU started strong in set one, racing out to an 8-3 lead and going up by as many as nine before taking the frame 25-18.
- Set two was much closer, with the two teams tying 10 times and the lead exchanging hands five times. Level at 20 apiece, NNU then rattled off five straight points, including two kills from Natalie Sullivan, to take the set.
- The final frame was fairly even throughout as well, but it was Western Oregon who took a late lead at 23-22 after scoring four points in a row. NNU was able to preserve the sweep, however, as Natalie Sullivan came up huge with three straight kills to take the match.
Nighthawks Notes
- Natalie Sullivan had 20 kills, marking the fifth time this year and second-straight match that she has recorded 20 or more. She also hit .333 with 12 digs.
- Mckenzie Lee had another fine setting effort, handing out 43 assists.
- Three Nighthawks were in double figure digs, as Caroline McMahon (16) and Molly Anderson (14) joined Sullivan.
- Helen Sullivan had two aces, increasing her team lead for the season to 19.
- Mattisyn Cope also finished with 10 kills and hit .400 for NNU.
