Team Preview
History continues to be made for Northwest Nazarene in the 2025 campaign, as the Nighthawks have achieved the No. 1 seed in the West Region for the first time in program history. The Nighthawks are also making their fourth Regional appearance in the last five seasons, and will look to repeat their 2021 run to the DII College World Series. At 40-13 overall and 27-5 in conference play, NNU is coming off of their third GNAC Tournament title in the last five seasons and fourth GNAC Regular Season Championship in that same span. The 40 wins is a program record and the Nighthawks enter the NCAA postseason on a roll, having won 25 of their last 28 games.

NNU was very well-represented on the All-GNAC teams, led by the incredible 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation in GNAC Pitcher of the Year Cole Calnon and GNAC Newcomer of the Year Ernesto Lugo-Canchola. Both enter the regional with 10-0 records on the mound and top-25 ERAs in the nation. Calnon is also leading the country with eight complete games, while Lugo-Canchola is fourth nationally with just 5.31 hits allowing per game. Other First Team All-GNAC selections were outfielder Nin Burns II, first baseman Kaleb Karpstein, third baseman Bryan Rojas, and designated hitter Cris Enriquez. Burns is hitting .355 with a team-leading 12 homers and 48 RBIs from the leadoff spot, and has also surpassed NNU's single-season record for runs scored with 62 and counting. Karpstein leads the team with a .396 average and .500 on-base percentage. Rojas is hitting .396 with 18 doubles and 40 RBIs, while Enriquez is just behind Burns for the team lead with 47 RBIs to his credit.

#4 Point Loma Sea Lions (37-16, 32-12 PacWest)

7th NCAA Regional Appearance (2015, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024)
Record in NCAA Postseason Play: 17-14

Team Preview
Point Loma is making a fourth straight NCAA West Regional appearance, as PLNU looks to defend its West Region championship. The Sea Lions are seeking a return trip to the NCAA Division II World Series in Cary, North Carolina, with Point Loma winning two of the last three regional titles. PLNU finished second in the PacWest regular season standings this year, ending its streak of three consecutive conference titles.

Jake Entrekin leads the West Region in home runs, OPS, slugging %, on-base % and walks. Entrekin became PLNU's first three-time First Team All-PacWest selection in program history. This season, he set new PLNU program records for career home runs and RBIs. Entrekin (DH), Luke Reece (2B) and Branden Jackel (SP) were selected to the All-PacWest First Team, leading 7 Sea Lions who earned All-Conference honors.

#5 Montana State Billings Yellowjackets (32-20, 21-11 GNAC)

2nd NCAA Regional Appearance (2019)
Record in NCAA Postseason Play: 0-2

Team Preview
For just the second time in school history, the Montana State University Billings baseball team is headed to the NCAA West Region Championships. After narrowly falling in the GNAC Championships, the Yellowjackets (32-20) resume was enough to earn the #5 seed. Coming off a pair of wins and a trip to the GNAC Championship game, the Yellowjackets resume speaks for itself. The ‘Jackets have collected 32 wins on the season, which is the second most in school history. At the GNAC Championships, the Yellowjackets saw Brennen Chappell, Jack Nehler, Bodee Wright, and Kaden Kirshenbaum earn All-Tournament recognition.

The ‘Jackets also got high praise across the GNAC with 11 players earning All-Conference recognition. Freshman pitcher Sam Coxen was named GNAC Freshman of the Year, and head coach Derek Waddoups earned GNAC Coach of the Year. Coxen becomes only the second MSUB player ever to be named Freshman of the Year, following Cooper Dulich in 2022. Coach Waddoups earning GNAC Coach of the Year marks just the fourth time in program history a Yellowjacket coach has received the honor, and first since Aaron Sutton in 2019. This season, Waddoups surpassed 100 career wins as the skipper and has now posted his first 30-win season at MSUB. His now 117 career wins ranks second in school history, just 18 wins shy of Rob Bishop (2011-2016).

Highlighting the 2025 All-GNAC selections, five Yellowjackets — Hayden Mullins, Zack Blaszak, Bodee Wright, Kaden Kirshenbaum, and Ryan Jeffrey — received First Team honors. Second Team accolades went to Sam Coxen, Jackson Betancourt, Jack Nehler, and Ryker Fortier. Rounding out the awards were Honorable Mentions for Jarret Elmer and Brennen Chappell.

Due to the nature of having an odd number of teams in a double-elimination regional pod, the bracket scenarios can be somewhat confusing, and we will do our best to explain them below.

After PLNU and MSUB play in Game 1, the loser of Game 1 will play NNU in Game 2.

Scenario #1
If either PLNU or MSUB loses twice on Thursday, they are eliminated. In this scenario, there will be two teams (NNU and either PLNU/MSUB) that are 1-0 so far, so they will play a de facto best-of-three series (Games 3-5) to determine who advances to Super Regionals. If a team wins both Game 3 and Game 4, they advance without having to play the 'if necessary' Game 5.

Scenario #2
If the Game 1 loser defeats NNU in Game 2, nobody is eliminated on Thursday. NNU would then play the Game 1 Winner in Game 3 on Friday. If NNU loses Game 3, then they are eliminated. In this scenario, between PLNU and MSUB one team will be 2-0 and the other will be 1-1. If the 2-0 team wins Game 4, they advance. The 1-1 team would need to defeat the 2-0 team in both Games 4 and 5 to advance.

Scenario #3
If the Game 1 loser defeats NNU in Game 2, but NNU turns around and defeats the Game 1 Winner in Game 3, then all three teams remain after three games with 1-1 records. In this scenario, as the highest seed NNU would receive a bye to Game 5. PLNU and MSUB would play in Game 4, with the winner then taking on NNU in Game 5 with the Super Regional bid on the line.
