PORTLAND, Ore. – Northwest Nazarene cross country continued to build momentum Saturday at the Mike Johnson Classic, with both the men's and women's teams finishing in the top four.

The NNU women finished fourth with 134 points, placing behind three NCAA Division I programs of Oregon, Portland and Oregon State. The Nighthawks also finished ahead of Western Oregon and Alaska Anchorage, two teams that finished near the top of last year's GNAC Championships.

Hazel Kunkel led the way for NNU, finishing 12th overall in 21:24. Cameron Moore followed in 22nd with a time of 21:42, while Zoey Stauffer finished 32nd in 22:04. Mckenna Lechner finished 38th in a time of 22:11 and June Nemrow rounded out the Nighthawks' scoring five, finishing in 40th with a personal best of 22:18. 

Madison Ingram and Ella Bartlett also finished inside the top 50, with both recording new personal bests and giving NNU a strong group behind its top five.

On the men's side, the Nighthawks finished third with 92 points, behind Western Oregon and Alaska Anchorage.

Luke Stockett led NNU across the finish line, placing second overall in 24:13. Emmitt Warren followed in 10th with a new personal best of 25:05, while Timothy Bradshaw finished 24th in 25:42, also recording a new personal best.

Izayah Palmer and Finnley Olson also recorded new personal bests while finishing inside the top 40, helping the Nighthawks secure their third-place finish.

The Nighthawks will have some time to recoup before returning to competition at the Lewis Crossover in Chicago on October 10th.
