NAMPA, Idaho - The Northwest Nazarene women's soccer team shutout Saint Martin's for their first win of the 2026 season.
It didn't take long for the Nighthawks to gain control as
Lucy Bergford took a shot from distance that hit the crossbar,
Brianna Abo took a shot that forced a save, and
Ali Adkins took a shot that missed. In the ninth minute,
Lucy Bergford gave the Nighthawks the lead after dribbling through multiple defenders and playing the ball just past the oustretched arm of the keeper.
Attie Jo Westbrook added the second of the game in the 20th minute. After the ball rolled around in the box, Westbrook took the ball on the end of the box and crossed to her left foot and took a shot that found the side netting on the back post.
NNU added another goal in the second half as Alexis Cromwell took a shot with her left foot that snuck under the bar for the Nighthawks' third goal.
NNU earns their first win of the season and improves to 1-5-1 overall and 1-2 in GNAC play. They will look to stay hot against Western Oregon on Saturday.
