NAMPA, Idaho – Junior Luke Stockett earned his first GNAC Runner of the Week honor after winning the NNU Invitational at West Park in Nampa. Stockett finished just 0.1 seconds ahead of his older brother and teammate, Ian Stockett, as the brothers finished first and second.

The NNU Invitational was Luke's first race at West Park and his first cross country race as a Nighthawk after transferring from Utah State. The win also marked his first Cross Country GNAC Runner of the Week honor.

The Stockett brothers worked together throughout the race, staying near the front of the pack and creating separation from the rest of the field. Luke crossed the finish line first in 24:42.6, with Ian right behind him in 24:42.7.

With Luke joining the Nighthawks this season, the brothers will have the opportunity to race together throughout the rest of the cross country season.

Stockett and the Nighthawks will return to action on Sept. 26 at the Mike Johnson Classic.
