Records Set in 19-Goal Performance

ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Northwest Nazarene lacrosse team set a new single-game scoring record with a 19-9 win over Adams State on Thursday evening.

It didn't take long for the goals to start, but it was the home team to deliver the first blow. Jacob Parson scored just 14 seconds into the game and Malik Maxwell a few minutes later. Before NNU could even get settled, they trailed 2-0.

Just 40 seconds later, Colton Altimus scored the first of five on the night. Altimus' goal sparked an 8-0 run where he would score again and Kellen Young, Caleb Mainwaring, Ozgood Hawkins, Drew Guerrero, London Talbott, and Chase Pluid would all net one as well. With an 8-2 score with 2:30 left in the second quarter, Devon Schmidt scored and Malik Maxwell scored his second on the man advantage with 24 seconds remaining in the half. NNU would take an 8-4 lead into the break.

The Nighthawks struck first to open the second half as Drew Guerrero scored at the 10:40 mark, assisted by Brayden Reinsch. The next four goals would be highlighted by both Guerrero and Hank Riddle as Riddle secured a third-quarter hat trick and Guerrero finished his that started in the first-half. Now leading 13-4, ASU answered back just before the quarter ended.

Another Colton Altimus goal extended the lead to 14-5 and Kellen Young added the 15th a few minutes later. The Grizzlies put one in of their own to trail 15-6. Caleb Mainwaring recorded his second goal of the game and tenth of the year as Colton Altimus capped off a career night with his fifth goal, now up to 36 on the seaosn, leading the RMAC. Another goal from Kellen Young would secure a 19-9 NNU victory.

19 goals is the most goals in program history as the Nighthawks improve to 4-7 overall and 3-5 in RMAC play. They will stay on the road and travel to Grand Junction, Colo. to take on the 15th ranked Colorado Mesa Mavericks on Saturday April 11th.
