GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Northwest Nazarene lacrosse team lost a 21-3 decision against Colorado Mesa on Saturday night.Â
It was all Mavericks tonight as NNU struggled to gain any momentum. CMU scored the 12 goals of the game as they held the Nighthawks scoreless through the first half. NNU was only able to get eight shots off through the first 30 minutes of play, and only four were on target.Â
With 8:15 remaining the third quarter,
Caleb Mainwaring was finally able to break through for the Nighthawks off a pass from
Colton Altimus. CMU's Eli Bibler responded a minute later to make the score 13-1.
Hank Riddle netted his 18th of the season at the 1:14 mark of the third quarter.Â
the Nighthawks were starting to gain some momentum heading to the final quarter but three more Maverick goals would put the score at 16-2.
Hank Riddle scored his second of the night and 19th of the season off a pass from
Drew Guerrero before CMU would score five unanswered to claim a 21-3 win.
CMU out shot NNU 57-20 and 37-11 with shots on goal. CMU also had the upper hand on faceoffs, winning 21 to NNU's seven.
The Nighthawks fall to 4-8 overall and 3-6 in RMAC play. They will head to Salt Lake City to close out the regular season against Westminster next Saturday and will await RMAC Postseason Tournament pairings.
