The Northwest Nazarene University Nighthawks faced several top programs from the PacWest Conference and Division II competition this past weekend at William Jessup University in Rocklin.
NNU opened the tournament against Fresno Pacific University, trailing at halftime. The Nighthawks gained momentum with strong performances in Jumps & Tumbling and the fourth quarter.
Hayden Wilson, NNU's highest-rated athlete in the meet, helped lead the charge alongside Tumbler of the Game
Spenser Cauley. Despite the late push, Fresno Pacific held on for a 22–15 victory.
In their second matchup, NNU battled UC Davis in a tightly contested competition. The Nighthawks pulled ahead in the third quarter behind a standout performance from Tumbler of the Game
Hannah Pollock. UC Davis responded in the final quarter, narrowly edging NNU 18–13.
On day three, the Nighthawks faced two of the top-ranked Division II teams in the PacWest: Vanguard University and Concordia University Irvine. In their matchup with Vanguard, NNU scored 12 points and recorded scoring performances in every quarter.
Ella Allen earned the team's Highest Rated Player honors, while Tumbler of the Game
Emma Braga delivered an impressive 92% stick rate in the third and fourth quarters.
The Nighthawks will next travel to George Fox University in Oregon on March 13 to face teams they have not yet competed against this season.
