FRISCO, Texas – Northwest Nazarene men's soccer battled to a 2-2 draw with St. Mary's to wrap up their Texas swing on Saturday.
The Nighthawks move to 3-2-2 on the season entering GNAC play next week.
The Rattlers found the back of the net first, scoring in just the ninth minute on a penalty.
NNU didn't take long to equalize, though, as
Jorge Gonzalez notched his first goal of the season in the 19
th minute.
The next tally didn't come until the 69
th minute, when
Rylan McPherson scored off an assist from
Derek Johnson to give the Nighthawks a 2-1 advantage.
St. Mary's was able to tie the game in the 79
th, however, and the match ended with the 2-2 score.
Gerardo Fonte had five saves in goal for NNU, while a trio of Nighthawks tallied two shots apiece offensively.
NNU will now open GNAC play next week, visiting Seattle Pacific on Saturday, Oct. 4 for a 4:30 p.m. Pacific start.
