PORTLAND, Ore. - The GNAC announced the weekly award winners for March 10-16 on Monday afternoon, with Northwest Nazarene baseball's Ernesto Lugo-Canchola earning the Pitcher of the Week honor for the second time this season.

In addition to this being his second Pitcher of the Week award, this is also NNU baseball's seventh GNAC weekly accolade of the season so far.

Lugo-Canchola was dominant in his outing against Central Washington last week, authoring a four-hit shutout amid a series sweep for the Nighthawks.

The left-hander struck out seven batters in his seven innings of work, scattering four hits and allowing just six total baserunners on the way to his fifth win of the season. Tossing a season-high 109 pitches, Lugo-Canchola struck out the side in the top of the first inning to hint he was locked in from the start. He worked around runners in scoring position in five different innings, including stranding a pair to end the game in the seventh with the tying run in the on-deck circle. In 38 2/3 innings pitched this season Lugo-Canchola has 48 strikeouts and carries an ERA of 2.09.

After a successful two-week homestand, Lugo-Canchola and the Nighthawks head back out on the road this week, visiting Saint Martin's for a four-game set from March 21-22 in Lacey.
