Nighthawks Swept by Golden Eagles

IRVINE, Calif. – Northwest Nazarene softball dropped a pair of games to Concordia University Irvine on Tuesday, falling 4-0 and 4-1.

The Nighthawks move to 4-4 on the year.

Game One – CUI 4, NNU 0

The Nighthawks mustered five hits in the opener and couldn't push across any runs.

The Golden Eagles scored one in the first and added three more in the fifth en route to the 4-1 win.

Miah Lusk tossed two more scoreless innings for the Nighthawks, while Riley McGee and Victoria Frias also appeared in the circle.

Game Two – CUI 4, NNU 1

NNU struggled to find offense again in the nightcap as they were kept off the scoreboard until the fifth inning. The Nighthawks' only run of the day came across when Ava Clark scored on an error by the right fielder off a single from Charlotte Forniss.

CUI got three of their runs in the second inning to take an early lead they would not relinquish. The Golden Eagles added one more in the bottom of the fifth to bring it to 4-1.

The Nighthawks put up a fight in the seventh, loading the bases with one out, but a flyout and a strikeout ended the game.

Forniss and Emma Bumatay both had two hits for NNU, while Mari Kamemoto notched a double. Forniss pitched the first 1.2 innings before giving way to Lusk, who tossed the final 4.1 frames and struck out eight.
