PORTLAND, Ore. - The GNAC Released the weekly award winners for Feb. 3-9 on Monday afternoon, with Northwest Nazarene baseball's
Ernesto Lugo-Canchola earning the GNAC Pitcher of the Week award.
Making his second start of the season, Lugo-Canchola delivered a stellar performance to help the Nighthawks to a 5-2 win over Chico State. The left-hander struck out six batters in 6-plus innings, allowing just one run on three hits. Lugo-Canchola limited the opposition to just five baserunners in the quality start and pitched into the seventh inning for the first time in his NNU career.
Across his first two outings of the season, Lugo-Canchola holds a 0.77 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP with 12 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings pitched.
Lugo-Canchola and the Nighthawks remain on the road for one more week this weekend, heading down to Colorado State Pueblo for four games from Thursday to Saturday. After that, it will be time for the home opener against Colorado Mesa from Feb. 20-22 at Elmore Vail Field.
