ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Northwest Nazarene volleyball took the first set from Alaska Anchorage on the road but fell 3-1 on Saturday night.
NNU falls to 4-12 on the year and 3-6 in GNAC play.
The Nighthawks came out very strong in the first set, taking a 9-8 lead on a
Maddy Hellem kill and never giving the advantage back. A UAA error gave NNU a 16-11 lead moments later, and then another 3-0 run put the Nighthawks up 19-12. NNU eventually took a 25-20 victory in the opening frame.
Set two went the way of the Seawolves, as UAA jumped out to an 11-3 lead and went on to win 25-14. The third set was closer, but again the Seawolves prevailed with a 25-20 win.
UAA used that momentum to slowly pull away from NNU in the fourth set, taking it 25-15 to win the match.
Abby Black had 14 kills, 17 digs, and three blocks for the Nighthawks, while
Kayci Spray added 15 digs.
NNU returns home next week, hosting Central Washington on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 1:00 p.m. in the Johnson Sports Center.
