Nighthawks Win Their Second Game of the Golden Eagle Classic

Irvine, California – Northwest Nazarene Volleyball continued their appearance at the Golden Eagle Classic with their first game of the day against Ursuline College on Friday. The Nighthawks secured their first victory of the season with a 3-0 sweep.

In the first set, the Nighthawks proved they were up for the challenge, outperforming the Arrows offensively. NNU overpowered Ursuline, recording 16 kills to 7. Hailey Cheney led the Nighthawks with 6 kills from the middle blocker position. The Nighthawks won the first set with a score of 25-14.


In the second set, the Nighthawks maintained the momentum from the first game. After an early back-and-forth, NNU took control with a kill by Lily Kinloch and then went on a 5-point run. Abby Black ignited the offense, leading the Nighthawks with 5 kills. NNU won the second set with a score of 25-11.


The Nighthawks finished the game with a win in the closely contested third set. The Arrows came out ready to fight but were unable to match the Nighthawks' efforts. With a final score of 25-23, NNU recorded their first overall win of the season.


The Nighthawks' day is not over yet, as they have one more game this afternoon. They will face off against Concordia at 2 p.m., hoping to carry the winning momentum from this morning into their next match.
