Nighthawks Record Their Second Win of The Week

NAMPA, Idaho - Nighthawks Volleyball hosted their second game of the week in an exciting match-up against Montana State Billings.

As the first set began, the teams stayed neck and neck until the Nighthawks slowly started pulling away. Machado had a stand-out first set with 7 kills helping her team keep a comfortable lead. Coming off of a massive block by Cheney and Holm, that put the score to 18-14, MSUB's couch called a time-out in hopes to regroup his team. Succeeding the Yellow Jackets were able to slow the growing momentum of the Nighthawks and cut their lead to 2. However, rallying together the Nighthawks pulled the win, 25-19.

In the second set of the game, the Yellowjackets came out strong and countered the efforts of the Nighthawks well. Taking the lead, it looked like they would be able to hold off NNU. However, the defensive efforts by the Nighthawks' front row kept them in the game. As the exciting match came to a close the Yellow Jackets were able to take the win with a score of, 23-25. The Nighthawks totaled 5 blocks and 14 kills.

The third set proved to be just as exciting as the previous 2 as the teams battled to push the game in their favor. Leading the way offensively the Nighthawks recorded 11 kills with a hitting percentage of .128. This in combination with errors by the Yellowjackets the Nighthawks won the third with a score of 25-20.

To finish the Nighthawks were able to end their two-game week with another win. Keeping the momentum, NNU finished out the 4-set game with a score of 25-21. Machado led her team with 19 kills followed by Black who had 16. Spray contributed 18 digs and Wilding recorded 27 assists, followed by Moore who had 25.
