LAS CRUCES, N.M. - For second time in his career and first as an individual,
Grayson Giboney is set to represent Northwest Nazarene men's golf at the NCAA West/South Central Regional.
Â
Giboney was announced as one of eight individual qualifiers from the West and South Central Regions that will compete, along with the 20 qualifying teams, at the University Golf Club on the campus of New Mexico State from May 9-11.
Â
The top five teams and then top two individuals not part of an advancing team will advance to the NCAA National Championships on May 21-25 in Winter Garden, Florida at Orange County National Golf Center. Giboney will look to be one of those two individual qualifiers to the final championships.
Pairings for the first round on Thursday have been announced, and Giboney will be starting on hole one at 10:00 a.m. with fellow individual qualifiers Guilio Zanichelli of Academy of Art and Ronald Kildall III of Fort Lewis. Pairings and start times for the two subsequent rounds will be set after the previous round is complete.
Giboney earned his regional spot after a fantastic final season with the Nighthawks, tying for third in the GNAC in scoring average with 72.6. He also took second in the GNAC Tournament, which was the best finish for any NNU men's golfer in program history.
Giboney will be joined by the five-person teams of GNAC champion Western Washington and Simon Fraser as the GNAC representatives at the regional.
