Nighthawks Compete at Briarwood Shootout

BILLINGS, Mont. – Northwest Nazarene men's and women's golf both took part in the Briarwood Shootout hosted by Montana State Billings across Monday and Tuesday.
 
The women's side tied third out of six teams at the event, just trailing MSUB and South Dakota Mines.
 
Freshman Lynea Kelsey had a great tournament, tying for fourth individually after improving by 11 strokes between the two rounds. She shot a +15 on day one before recording a +4 on day two to move up 11 places.
 
Caroline Caven was next for NNU, finishing in a tie for eighth at 22 over. Avery Paul placed 17th, Jana Knapp tied for 20th, and Tanlyn Donahoe rounded out the scores in 31st.
 
The NNU men sent their B squad to the event, finishing fifth out of six teams. Jack Duffy and Ty Hagen led the way, both in a tie for fifth at +4.
 
Seth Fuhrman was just one stroke back at +5, tying for ninth. Gavin Rodeghiero tied for 23rd and David Roberts tied for 26th. Lucas Schufreider also competed as an individual, tying for 19th.
 
 The men and women will both head to Hawai'i next week for the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate on Oct. 20 and 21 and then the HPU Sharks Shootout on Oct. 24 and 25.
