SEATTLE, Wash. - Northwest Nazarene men's basketball had a late comeback attempt fall just short at Seattle Pacific on Saturday, cutting a 10-point deficit to just one with 1:17 to play, but ultimately fell to the Falcons 66-64.

The Nighthawks fall to 11-8 overall on the season and 7-4 in GNAC play.

SPU got off to a good start and would lead by as much as 11 in the first half, taking a 27-16 lead with 4:42 to go before the break.

Just under two minutes later, though, a
Ryzin Bergersen triple capped an 8-0 NNU run to cut the deficit to three. SPU would stop the run there, and went into halftime with a five-point advantage at 34-29.

NNU cut the deficit to one at the 11:20 mark of the second half when
Nathan Perez hit a three-pointer that made it 45-44. The Falcons would go on a 13-4 run over the next five minutes, though, going up 58-48 with 6:19 to play.

The Nighthawks did not go away, as back-to-back triples from
Ryzin Bergersen cut the SPU lead back down to one at 62-61 with 1:17 remaining. NNU could not quite get over the hump and grab the lead, however, and fell 66-64.

Bergersen led NNU with 21 points, including 3-5 shooting from deep.
Aaron Murphy had a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Perez tallied 14 points with a 3-6 mark from three-point range.

NNU returns home next week, hosting the Alaska schools on Thursday and Saturday in the Johnson Sports Center.
